Like every other night he flipped his pillow over, turned off the tv and closed his eyes in the hope that he would be able to go to sleep tonight. Eugene, ever since he could remember had trouble falling asleep, mainly because he always had to many thoughts running through his mind.
But this night he started to think about this one time he was first introduced to this girl Nicole. He could remember everything. The red cups all around him, the people yelling in excitement, the music playing some type of 90's hip hop and of course her long brown shining hair sitting so easily atop of her shoulders. Her smile as soon as she finally recognized him in the sea of people seemed to resonate so steady in his mind. He could even remember how nervous he was when he started to walk up to her. It turned out that Eugene and this girl had met each other once before, at another random party. She kept going on telling him how they had s similar conversation before and that Eugene had never called her after that night. Eugene nodded as to pretend that he was actually paying attention to what she was saying, but all the while he was starring at her big green eyes. Then she chuckled and said something which Eugene didn't catch.
"Whats so funny?" Eugene asked.
She chuckled again and said, "Nothing.. its just that this whole time we've been talking it seems that you haven't stopped looking at me?"
"That just goes to show how much of a good listener i am" Eugene replied.
They kept on talking a little while, then as Eugene took off his beanie to fix it, Nicole noticed something behind his ear.
"Whats that behind your ear?" she asked.
Without having to think, he already knew what it was. It was a spliff his friend had gave him to hang on to for later. Eugene quickly put on his beanie.
"Huh? What was that?" he said.
"Oh, you heard me." she replied, as she bit her lip.
Eugene was caught off guard, but couldn't help but see how attractive she looked when she said it.
"Its a spliff my friend rolled for me" he finally replied.
Without hesitation, she asked Eugene if he wanted to smoke it. Eugene couldn't deny the chance to spend more time with this girl, so he took her to his car. He sparked the lighter and put it up to the end of the spliff while he inhaled. He took another hit then passed it to this girl. Then as soon as he exhaled he could recall every single detail from that night. Her cute lips wrapped around the end of the spliff, the way she looked like she had defiantly done this before, the way her perfume still seemed to over power the sent of smoke, and the way he felt like this girl was to good to be true.
Then out of the corner of his eye he caught something strange. He glanced at it for a few seconds until he didn't notice it anymore. He thought about it for a few more seconds as Nicole passed back the spliff. He took another hit and thought that it looked a lot like a flying pig.
Then as if on que, his phone rang. He turned over on his bed to answer it as he rubbed his eyes. He checked who it was before he would even think about answering it. It was his buddy Dylon asking him if he could get a ride to work in the morning. Eugene hesitantly said yeah, then as he hung up the phone he looked to see the time. It read something like 2:03am.
"That's a hell of a time to be calling me for a ride" he said to himself.
Then he finally started to think about that one night again before he was interrupted. He remembered how somehow they had ended up smoking another spliff in the back seat of his car. He still remembered the beautiful sent of her perfume he could still smell over the smoke, and his willingness to keep talking to this girl.
As they kept talking the conversation seemed to be leading to something sensual. Eugene recalled how every signal Nicole was giving him was slightly flirty. But without realization Eugene saw Nicole scouting a little closer to him. Without much more hesitation Eugene began to kiss her.
After a few moments things began to get pretty heavy and as Nicole started to take off her shirt Eugene began to do the same. But at that very moment he saw something strange again, this time moving around. He knew what it could be, and as the image seemed to move in front of his field of vision it passed over the light coming into the car from a street lamp a couple of houses down. Without any hesitation he knew it was a flying pig.
As he thought about this flying pig Nicole began to kiss him again. And before he could appreciate what was going on he remembered that the only time he would ever see flying pigs is when he was dreaming. And just like that he woke up in regret to his dreaded alarm clock ringing in his ears.
As he sat up on his bed thinking how odd of a dream that really was, he recalled that he had actually met a girl named Nicole a few weeks before. But as he walked to the shower he gave it no further attention as he finally realized he didn't want to be disappointed twice in one day.
